Transform The Way You Hike in 90 Days

A customised coaching approach to getting you out of pain and back out in the mountains, without ever setting foot in a gym.

The Three High Level Skills That Allow Pain Free, Effortless hiking:

Reclaim the Spring in your foot

Start from the ground up, learning to unlock tight ankles, stiff or weak feet and dehydrated plantar fascia.

Unlock Your Spinal Engine

Recruit powerful core muscles such as the respiratory diaphragm and obliques to allow powerful but relaxed rotation in the spine.

Drive power from your hips

Use the foot to hip connection to drive forward propulsion, rather than over using your knees.

Who Do We Help?

Hikers dealing with long term pain or injuries

If you're struggling with injury or chronic pain and haven’t found a solution that works, you need a well thought-out, customised approach. That's the reality of it.

Older hikers who need fall prevention strategies

If you struggle with poor motor control, limited mobility and unsteady balance, you need a program that's designed with that in mind, yet still enables you to work on coordination & agility.

Hikers who need a balanced, customised approach

If for any reason you've struggled to follow standard fitness programs, then you likely need a high level of customisation that allows for your limitations and still enables you to progress.

Is This For You?

Maybe....

But this isn’t for everyone.

It won’t fix your body in 7 days.
It (probably) won’t turn you into a mountain athlete by next summer,
and it certainly won’t work
unless you actually do the work.

But if you’re a hiker who:

- keeps dealing with the same aches and limitations

- feels their body break down on long days

- or senses your body could work better than it does…

This will help connect the dots.

You’ve probably seen a lot of these promises before.

‘Cookie cutter’ programs that claim to deliver unrealistic results in no time and ignore the fundamental reality that each human body has different structures, limitations and strengths.

This is not that.

Yes, we have program templates - because we work systematically, but the key is to make the small but important customisations within a greater system that gets predictable outcomes.

You’re here because you know that you need a customised program that is both relevant to your body, and to specific to hiking.

That is exactly what we offer.

What is The Hike Flow Method?

The Hike Flow Method is more than a catchy name for our coaching services...

It's a 4 phase system with a series of check boxes that need to be ticked off along the way.

Some of those check boxes include....

the ability to:

  • Sense your centre of mass moving through the foot as you step

  • Create pronation and supination in the arch of both feet

  • Lengthen and load your glute whilst standing on a single leg

  • Organise the hip, knee and foot to get force into the ground without a pain response

  • Return to moving with speed, power and efficiency

When we see that your ability to perform the movement has improved to a satisfactory degree, we move you onto the next phase and the next check point.

You'll practice hiking specific movements , so your body starts doing less unnecessary work when you hike.

Over time, that means:

- less joint irritation downhill

- more power and better rhythm uphill

- more control and balance when fatigued

- softer, more relaxed breathing at altitude

- and fewer “why does this always flare up?” moments

But right now, you're probably stuck in the same place all of our members where once at.

You're in crappy rehab jail.

And if you don't find a way out, you'll probably stay in this cycle.

The Crappy Rehab Cycle...

That's Why most people stay stuck.

I'm not here to criticise the medical world, or to allow you to put the blame on some vague scapegoat...

But if we are all being honest, the 'health care system' often falls short.

Most people give up before they find a decent sports physio who can really help.

And honestly, after being stuck in the government sponsored 'treatment' cycle for a long time myself, I can certainly relate to what you're feeling.

The traditional approach is typically about reducing your symptoms and making you feel a little bit better.

But that's not what works long term.

It can be appealing to put the responsibility on someone else, but that only ever leads you down the path of:

  • Chasing quick fixes through passive, hands on treatment

  • Doing poor quality 'homework drills, with no form checks

  • Clinical traps that never actually add load or intensity to the problem area

  • Buying programs with no ongoing support or customisation

  • Scouring YouTube for the 'magic stretch' that has little to no long term effect

How is this different?

The Hike Flow Method differs from the traditional approach in 4 major ways:

1. We conduct a thorough assessment based on movement, not just on symptoms.

2. We work holistically with the whole body, not just the area where you feel pain/tension.

3. We check your form regularly, and progress you as soon as you show signs of improvement.

4. We focus on returning to hiking and moving with efficiency, not just reducing your symptoms.

One of the main reasons we get fast, consistent & predictable results is due to the high frequency of touch points we give our clients throughout the week.

We speed up your learning with a constant feedback loop, meaning that you don't waste time doing the exercises incorrectly, which is what usually happens with physio 'homework'.

We require that you to film your movements and share them with your coach to get instant feedback on what needs to change with your movement.

In addition to that we offer several live calls throughout the week where you can do your training live over zoom and get the stimulus your body needs to rewire pain pathways and allow you to trust your body again.

This level of attention to detail is ONLY possible online.

It's simply impractical to do in person.

"Doing the Hike Flow Method is like having a group of top notch personal trainers come to my house every day to show me how to improve my stride, get stronger and fix that tweak in my knee that’s getting in the way of my hiking" - Cori (USA)

What to Expect in Your First Month:

Follow a Step By Step System to Become A Better Hiker

Here is the step by step process we follow you get you moving and feeling better:

Step 1: Discovery & Testing Week

We start with a discovery week with a lot of movement variety to find out what movements you can and can't do. During this week you will be asked to film the 4 key movements that we use as assessment tools. During this time you will also provide posture photos for your assessment.

Step 2: 1:1 Online Call & Assessment Review

Once we have your assessment videos & photos, you'll have a 1:1 assessment with a qualified kinesiologist in our team. For those who are unaware, Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement, which incorporates fields like physiology, biomechanics, anatomy, and psychology to understand how the body functions, moves, and adapts. This assessment process continues as you work your way through the program and feed back information to our team. Every time we see you move, its a re-assessment.

Step 3: Custom Building Phase 1 (Usually 6 weeks)

Your coach will choose the best starting point for you based on what we see in your assessments. We also take into account your symptoms, limitations, strengths & weaknesses, psychological state and your access to equipment. We almost always start with no equipment, 100% bodyweight moves.

Step 4: Check in & Mid Point Review of Phase 1

Around half way through Phase 1 we will assess your improvements and review the suitability of your program to your situation. We check in on things like your adherence to the program, we review what has changed in your symptoms as well as doing a quick 'wellness check' to make sure that you understand the program and what it is designed to change.

Step 5: Phase 1 Review and Planning Next Steps

Once you have completed Phase 1, we will review your progress in a 1:1 call and decide your next steps. At this point you'll know whether the Hike Flow Method is for you or not. If you're showing significant signs of improvement and you are excited about your progress, we will move you on to phase 2. In this call we will come to an agreement on how much ongoing support you need moving forward. Many people are able to make solid progress from this point without the significant investment that a high frequency of 1:1 calls requires, but some choose to continue at this level. That will be entirely up to you.
